Orkut Myspace Thank You Comments & Graphics
I just want to take a second and thank everybody who’s taken the time to follow HJ not only here on the blog, but also on Twitter or Facebook.
In the last month I’ve made a big push to get as many Twitter followers as possible as part of the anniversary bash celebrations. (You might be well aware by now that I’ll be donating 5¢ to the Lymphoma Research Foundation for every follower Haunt Jaunts has come tomorrow, March 30, 2010.)
I’ve been watching HJ’s Twitter followers steadily climb (thanks to so many of you re-Tweeting and spreading the word in any way you can), but Friday I also noticed HJ’s FB fans had reached 100.
I haven’t done hardly any FB campaigning. That is just people who took the time to fan HJ. That it reached 100 astounds me.
On the eve of Haunt Jaunts anniversary, all I can think about is what life was like one year ago. I was still undergoing chemo treatments, and while I was beginning to feel better (as far as the pain from the tumor going away), I didn’t know what (if any) kind of future I had. Would the treatments work? How many more would I have to endure? What if the tumor suddenly stopped responding to the treatments?
Life back then was measured by good days and bad. On my good days, while my energy lasted, I made it a point to live life to the fullest.
It was on one of those good mornings last March when I woke up and decided, “This is the day I’m going to do it. This is the day I’m going to launch my Haunt Jaunts idea.” (One I’d had stuffed on the back shelf far too long, I’m sorry to admit.)
I never dreamed or even dared imagine this time last year that I’d ever say HJ had well over 1,000 followers on Twitter or that it had a Facebook fan page with 100 fans.
Wow.
I’ve said this many times before but it’s worth saying again: discovering my hitchhiker was one of the scariest things to ever happen to me, but this is another example of how it was also one of the best. I’m humbled and grateful and truly just appreciative beyond words. I’ve met, and continued to meet, some of the most amazing people thanks to Haunt Jaunts. If you’re reading this, that means you!
Ready to party? I’ve been busy concocting plans to throw “the biggest little party to ever hit the net” and it’s all going to go into full swing tomorrow. Stay tuned…
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
