It’s been a week now since I watched the Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel episode and I’m still perplexed by it. Or maybe “haunted” is a better word since they showed some stuff that was just downright creepy. Especially when it came to using their equipment to validate what psychic medium Patti Negri said she was sensing. These were some of the freakiest Ghost Adventures moments I’ve ever seen.
If they’re not excellent high-tech parlor tricks, they’re also some of the most remarkable evidence ever caught on camera so far too. Let’s check them out.
1. The Stick Figure in the Hallway
On the second night of their investigation, psychic Patti Negri joined the Ghost Adventures team in the Cecil Hotel. She first took them to the 8th floor. As they stood in the hallway, she said she sensed a lot of lost people and that something, like an entity of some sort, keeps people confused there. Of course, Zak took that to mean a demonic entity.
Anyway, after saying that the entity runs the place, she motioned to her left and said she sensed a male figure, one who was timid and frightened.
They moved down the hallway towards where she indicated. Zak had the SLS camera rolling and suddenly an anomaly was detected. A stick figure next to Patti in the same area she was saying she sensed something.
Wild, but not near as wild as the other two captures they’d get.
2. The Stick Figure in the Window
Patti next leads them to room 1431. That’s where a man named Roy Thompson jumped to his death in 1938. Even weirder, and allegedly not under any direction from Zak or crew, she went right to the window and starts to open it, saying she has to get out.
A concerned Zak asks her to close the window and asks why she’s saying she has to get out. She says she doesn’t know, then takes a seat in a chair in front of the window and starts rocking back and forth repeating, “Sad…sad…sad.”
That’s when the SLS camera picks up another stick figure, this time one that’s either hovering over Patti, hovering in the window, or standing in the window.
WTH?
Is it the ghost of Roy Thompson or one of the other spirits in the hotel? Or is it just a crazy coincidence and nothing was actually there?
3. The Full Spectrum Camera Smoke Shadow Mist on the Floor and the Figure in the Threshold
These are technically two different captures but go hand-in-hand because it was during an evidence review of the one that the Ghost Adventures team spotted the other.
It started when they reviewed shots taken with the full spectrum camera. They noticed what was either smoke, a shadow, or mist on the floor near the elevators and Patti when they were on the 14th floor. The photo apparently came from shots Aaron took with the camera.
They had no idea what the mass was, but they were all quick to agree it couldn’t have been any of their shadows for two reasons. One, it was square and looked nothing like a shadow cast by a person. Two, none of them were standing in that area. They were all behind the camera and on the other side of Patti and the shadow mist thing.
But something I noticed even before they got to the next shot they wanted to discuss was the foot. It was really hard to try and get a screen capture of. It’s easier to see and notice in the episode. But do you see the shoe too?
They proceed by saying the thing on the floor was not the strangest thing they caught on the full spectrum at that time. There was something else. I was expecting them to point out the shoe.
Nope. There’s was something much creepier. Because, again, keep in mind Aaron is allegedly behind the camera taking these photos. They spot someone, or something, standing in the hallway.
They showed a video of when the shots were taken to prove everyone was behind Patti and to her right. Especially Aaron, who it’d be easy to say was the figure in the hall. Looks about like his height and build.
But they insist it’s not.
Of course it could be great editing. But if not…what is that? If this photo hadn’t been staged, this was, for me, the freakiest Ghost Adventures/Patti Negri capture in the Cecil Hotel.
I have another theory about what it looks like to me. I kept waiting for them to bring up the comparison in the episode, but they never did.
I’ll share my thoughts on what it might be in a separate post though.

Which cameras do you think capture more convincing paranormal evidence: full spectrum or SLS?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
All three pieces of evidence are pretty goose-bump inducing! I think the full spectrum camera is the most convincing to me because I always figure dogs, who seem to see stuff we can’t, view things in a broader spectrum. Maybe the full spectrum is like seeing through a dog’s eyes.
Okay, I would say the full spectrum too, BUT…I never would’ve had a reason like yours. I LOVE that!!! I will never look at them the same way again!!!! Also, it’d be cool if that is how dogs view the world. I’ve always wondered what the world looks like through our furry friends’ eyes and this comment just got me so excited about the possibilities… love the way you think!!!!
