The Storm Area 51 event was ambitious enough, but as I recently wrote, it’s now morphed into the Alienstock Festival.
It’s set to take place around the same time as Storm Area 51, September 20th, but without the storming and more of a Burning Man vibe. Here’s the nitty gritty about the event.
The Goal
This is directly from the Alienstock Fest website:
We want to host a Festival in Rachel, NV.. the closest town to Area 51. They can’t stop us from gathering and celebrating Aliens! This event is taking place whether we set up or not- it’s basically its own entity now. Our goal is to secure the residencies of Rachel and provide a safe & fun experience for all of those who attend.
Where
Rachel, Nevada
When
September 20-22, 2019
Why
The Little A’Le’Inn in Rachel was already gearing up for Storm Area 51 attendees to swarm the small town where it is the only hotel and diner in the area. And the closest one to Area 51. Festival coordinators felt this made it a logical place to hold the event once they changed it from a storming scenario.
What
Party in the desert.
- Camping
- Music

- Surprise performances

Who’s Performing?
No one in particular has been announced yet. (I wouldn’t expect any major names.)
Rules
If you’re planning to go, make sure to check the “Info” section on the Alienstock website. There are a lot of rules, such as:
- Bring cash. There may not be card readers for food trucks and other vendors.
- No backpacks will be allowed in main-stage areas.
- No animals allowed, except service ones. I guess that means leave your pets at home.
- Alcohol is allowed in camping areas but not in main-stage areas.
- No weapons. If you’re found with any during an inspection, you’ll be asked to leave. (So I guess that means expect inspections?)
- No drones.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
