The Ancient Lore Village: The World’s First Story Resort

The other day I saw a story on our local news here in Nashville that immediately caught my eye about the Ancient Lore Village. Literally. Caught my eye. It was the photo of one of their accommodations that did it. (Specifically, the one leading off this post.)

Doesn’t it look like a hobbit house? At first I thought the story was going to be about Hobbiton in New Zealand where the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed.

Nope.

It was about a new resort experience right here in the States –specifically Tennessee– that’s under development: Ancient Lore Village, a Story Resort.

This also piqued my interest. A Story Resort? That sounds fantastic!

However, sadly the story was about how the location the Ancient Lore Village creators originally tried to procure fell through.

Damn.

But they’re still searching and trying to make somewhere work –and it appears it’ll still be in Tennessee.

I had to know more, so I Googled it. I came across an article on Attractions Magazine that gave me a little better idea what the Ancient Lore Village would be all about:

To match the resort’s focus on family connection, the resort will feature unique accommodations without traditional TVs in the rooms. New game technology and traditional play experiences for families will be offered instead to help foster new memories.

I dug a little further and found the Ancient Lore Village’s website and discovered even more.

Like no other place on earth.

Dwellings

There’s not a lot of particulars on the dwellings, other than each one has “special surprises and delightful moments.” However, they did have renderings of six of them to whet our appetites. All photos are from the Ancient Lore Village’s website.

Experiences

The common areas are anything but. They’ll also impart the spirit of the Village.

This is where you’ll find the lobby, a bakery, a fine dining restaurant, wine cellar, private dining room, retail shop, and a library with books, games and activities.

This is a “climbable playspace” and “proprietary play experience centered around story” where you’ll find “traditional and digital play,” a “magical campfire,” and nightly interactive theme shows.

This is their pool with a story-twist: themed lazy river, zero entry pool, swim up bar, an eatery as well as a spa.

2022?

On their website it says they hope to open by 2022. But was that before their location choice got denied?

I don’t know. All I know is that I’m desperate to jaunt to New Zealand and see Hobbiton for myself, but who knows if I’ll ever get to. This might be as close as I can get. I hope they’re able to make this happen.

I’ll be sure to write updates as details develop.

  1. All of the Dwellings appeal to me! So cool. I like the idea of getting away and unplugging for awhile, too. I wonder if the big tree is just for kids or if adults can climb around on it, too. That’s where I’d be!

DITTO! I’m not sure which Dwelling I’d pick and the tree house…after a stop to the library I’d want to hang out there too! It sounds like it will be for people of all ages and sizes but…not sure about that. Thanks for the comment!
