The other day I got an interesting email from the folks at the Haunted Walk, a ghost tour company. They also have a podcast called Haunted Talk. They were reaching out to other paranormal podcasters to see if they’d be interested in giving their “The Haunting at Home – A Paranormal Adventure” experience a try.
Here’s the first snippet from their email that instantly piqued my interest:
We would like to invite you and your audience to join us in a massive experiment with the Paranormal. It combines the best elements of a ghost hunt with the nostalgic thrill of playing Bloody Mary and other scary sleepover games.
Okay, a Bloody Mary-type game? Count me in.
But even more tantalizing info was to come. I present this next snippet:
“The Haunting at Home – A Paranormal Adventure” is a fun and spooky interactive audio experience that challenges participants to conduct a series of paranormal experiments in the dark. The results from experimenters around the world will be compiled and shared, making it one of the largest paranormal investigations to ever take place – all done from the comfort and safety of your house, apartment, or creepy cabin in the woods.
Yeah, there’s no way I could pass this up. I immediately emailed back saying, “I’m in! Sign me up!”
But I also immediately thought of my two best ghoulfriends that I do the A Haunt Mess podcast with. This would make a great episode with them too, so when I wrote the Haunted Walk people back I asked if they’d be okay with both HJ and AHM participating in this. They were! (So perhaps there’ll be a crossover episode to come out of that.)
What is the Haunting at Home?
Since they wrote it up so nice, I’m just copying and pasting the explanation from their website:
The Haunting at Home is an interactive online audio experience you can do right in your own house, apartment or creepy cabin in the woods. It is narrated by The Haunted Walk’s Creative Director and host of the Haunted Talks podcast, Jim Dean. This Paranormal Adventure is the perfect night of spooky fun for those who are intrigued by ghost stories or enjoy the thrill of trying to contact the other side.
It’s designed for between 2 to 8 people, but it is possible to do it solo too. It takes about two hours, give or take. It’s also family-friendly!
You can also keep up with the results of the Haunting at Home experiment. They post the stats on the following:
- How many experiments have been conducted at home
- Percentage of groups reporting activity
- Percent of groups that had to open the Safety Hatch
What is the Safety Hatch?
Apparently, if things get too intense or someone gets too scared, you have a way to exit the experiment.
I don’t know about you, but that just makes me want to try it more.
Cost
The Haunting at Home experience costs $34.99. That grants you access to the experience for 90 days.

Check-In
Would you conduct a paranormal experiment in your home?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
This is the coolest socially distant event yet! What a creative, unique idea.
