The Resort: A Haunt Jaunt to an Abandoned Island Forced to Shut Down

The Resort 2021 poster

2021 is spitting out some awesome-looking haunted house and haunted places horror movie trailers. First, there was the one for The Inheritance. Next came The Banishing. Yesterday I spotted an article on FirstShowing.net for a haunted place movie called The Resort.

Here’s the title that made me click through: “An Abandoned Island Might Really Be Haunted in ‘The Resort’ Trailer.”

At first, I thought it was referring to M. Night Shyamalan’s forthcoming thriller Old, which is due out this summer. (See? Lately, there has been a slew of horror movie news!)

However, it wasn’t. It was referring to something else entirely —and it looks nuts. In a good way.

I’m hoping the trailer isn’t the best thing about it, but if it’s a dud, at least its marketing team will know they did a good job and piqued this movie lover’s interest. I’ll be all over streaming this one when it releases on VOD on April 30.

Let’s take a look at what The Resort is about, who’s in it, and its trailer.

The Resort Storyline

Here’s the synopsis that accompanies its trailer on YouTube:

Lex is a writer obsessed with the paranormal. For her birthday, Lex’s three closest friends decide to take her on a surprise trip to an abandoned resort in Hawaii. The resort is the supposed haunt of an infamous ghost, The Half-Faced Girl, and Lex is determined to find her. When they arrive on the island, they find a massive, beautiful and eerily empty resort. Just as Lex decides that this was just an urban legend, her friends start to disappear one by one, leaving her at the mercy of the evil spirit.

I want to know what happened to cause the resort to close down! (You’ll see what I’m talking about in the trailer.)

The Resort Cast

It stars Bianca Haase (who plays Lex), Brock O’Hurn (who looks like he could be one of the Hemsworth brothers), Michael Vlamis (Roswell, New Mexico), and Michelle Randolph.

Check-In

Lex sounds like a kindred spirit. Traveler, writer, obsessed with the paranormal, and gifted a “haunt jaunt” to an abandoned place by some good friends to investigate an urban legend. Yeah. This is my kind of movie big time!
