Zak Bagans once again proves he’s got the Midas touch when it comes to creating compelling paranormal TV shows, but he’s not the only one. Eli Roth was also involved in the two new discovery+ series that premiered during Ghostober and ended up being hits.

News that Travel Channel and discovery+ greenlit second seasons for both The Haunted Museum and Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life came the same weekend the season finales for both shows dropped on the streamer.

“We’re thrilled to announce that Zak Bagans and Eli Roth will be creating more incredible cinematic content for our horror-loving audience,” said Matthew Butler, general manager, Travel Channel & Paranormal Streaming Content. “Viewers are mesmerized by the scripted and real-life haunted horror stories that each of these series delivers. Zak and Eli are brilliant storytellers and masterminds at evoking true terror. These are the scariest horror anthology series we’ve ever created, and we can’t wait to get back into production.”

The Ghostober Hits

Both The Haunted Museum and A Ghost Ruined My Life ventured into slightly new —and in some cases totally new— territory that discovery+ had never gone before.

Especially with The Haunted Museum, which is a scripted horror film anthology series produced by Zak Bagans in collaboration with filmmaker Eli Roth. It presents frightening and hellish tales inspired by the spooky relics on display in Zak Bagans’ Las Vegas museum.

It was the biggest departure because even though the episodes are inspired by allegedly real haunted objects, it’s essentially a fiction horror series.

A Ghost Ruined My Life was less of a departure from familiar territory. We’ve seen paranormal survivor stories before. However, we’ve never seen one with a master of horror’s stamp on it like Eli Roth added.

The series shares shocking stories of real-life hauntings that have left emotional (and sometimes physical) scars on those unlucky enough to have experienced them. It really is both terrifying and evocative watching the stories of survivors. Emphasis on the terrifying when it comes to the dramatic re-enactments!

Coming to Travel Channel?

I’m not 100% positive that Travel Channel viewers will get to watch both series, but I’m fairly certain both will eventually start airing there too.

When? I don’t know, but as soon as I do I’ll of course shout.

For now, season 1 of both series are available to stream on discovery+.

Have you seen either of these Ghostober hits? Which did you think was scarier: The Haunted Museum or A Ghost Ruined My Life?

  1. I haven’t seen either, but The Haunted Museum does sound better. I think I’d enjoy A Ghost Ruined My Life just as much because real-life victims’ testimonies get me really involved in a show.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from either but I did expect I might like the Haunted Museum more. I’m SO torn. I do know which one I think is scarier though, which I’ll write about in another post…

  3. Haunted Museum is frightening! I thought it would be stupid, but Zak and Eli collaborate so well on this show, and Eli really brings the scares. The acting and the scenes are phenomenal! This is a quality show! Unfortunately, I have not taken the opportunity to watch A Ghost yet, but I have downloaded it, and I am going to be watching it soon. Don’t miss Haunted Museum! It’s great! If you get a chance, go back and watch the first season, too!
