If you could go back to visit any point in time, what period would you choose? One of the three periods of the Mesozoic Era (Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous)? Or has Jurassic Park ruined such an adventure for you?
Maybe something more modern, like the Roaring 20s? The Victorian era? The Bronze Age? (Okay, that last one’s not so modern, but compared to the time of dinosaurs it is!)
Well, if you’ve ever wished you could go back in time, there’s a new company offering time travel tours: Time Tripping Travels.
Let’s check out how they accomplish this sci-fi feat.
How Time Travel Tours Work
First, you pick your era. They actually don’t offer the Mesozoic Era or the Bronze Age. The operators found it was logistically too dangerous and challenging for staff to take 21st-century folks back to those times.
However, they do offer seven other time periods to choose from:
- The Renaissance
- Colonial America
- Regency-era England
- Victorian England
- World War I
- The Roaring Twenties
- World War II
The mid-40s is as “near” as they can go back right now without upsetting time riffs. We’ll get to that.
Anyway, once you’ve decided when you’d like to visit, you reserve your dates like you would for a cruise line or a timeshare. From there, all you need to do is show up on the day of travel. Just you. No bags to pack. They take care of everything, from accommodations and food to period-appropriate clothing. (All of which you’re fitted for and select prior to your time travel tour adventure.)
Time Travel Tour Guides
You will always have a time travel tour guide who meets you on the other side. They’re sort of a time travel tour concierge, who makes sure all facets of your trip back in time go smoothly.
They orchestrate your cover story, serve as a translator (if needed), as well as a liaison between folks in your chosen time period and yourself. Basically, they ensure that your trip back in time is both comfortable and safe.
Of course, they also make sure you’re fully immersed and get to experience whichever era you’ve chosen to the fullest.
I got a kick out of the fact they’ll also help you dress, especially the ladies who require corsets for some journeys.
Time Travel Tour Accommodations & Education
It’s really cool how Time Tripping Travels has set everything up. They own a bunch of properties in all time periods. Just like a hotel, you get to pick your lodgings. But bear in mind, once you zap back, you forfeit a lot of modern conveniences, including electricity and indoor plumbing. It’s sort of like glamping in a lot of cases.
They also offer pre-travel prep courses for everything from the etiquette of the time to how to use a chamber pot!
How do they transport time travelers?
They have a machine, of course. Since the technology is proprietary, they don’t divulge how it works exactly, but they do guarantee it’s safe and effective and they haven’t lost a traveler yet.
Could I meet my ancestors?
No. Part of their package includes a detailed genealogical study so there’s no chance you’ll meet any family members. This is one of the ways they help ensure nothing you do while traveling to the past affects the future.
So if you had any ideas of trying to stop assassinations or kill Hitler or anything, they have safeguards in place to make sure history is never re-written. (No matter how much we might want it to be.)
Cost
The investment of your time reading this post and stretching your imagination.
Happy April Fools’ Day!
Check-In
If you really could travel back in time though, what time would you pick?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’d definitely like to see some prehistoric time. Dinosaurs, mammoths, and maybe even a quick stopover on the way back to peek at some cave art creators and burial ceremonies and things like that. Also, Egypt and Mexico. I’d also like to witness early maritime activity…Phoenicians and in Africa and the like.
Oooo! Your list is SUPER interesting! Maybe I considered the prehistoric times, but I never thought much about the rest of it. Awesome!!! Thx for sharing!
