You may be familiar with the haunted Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada, but what about Chicago’s haunted clown cemetery? Showmen’s Rest, as the section of Woodlawn Cemetery is known, is one of the stops on this year’s Tragic Tour. In fact, it’s a new addition.
Let’s check out what other stops are on the haunted itinerary as well as other details of this paranormal bus tour.
Tragic Tour Overview
Neal Gibbons of Graveside Paranormal and Paranormal Radio host Robert “Bob” Trzeciak are co-hosting the tour. They invite guests to join them on an approximately 4 1/2 journey to discover the unknown in some of the Chicago area’s most haunted and storied landmarks.
They’ll stop at bars and restaurants along the way, and will also entertain guests with videos and music as they travel from place to place.
And in a kind of twist we don’t always see around here, this haunted history ghost tour will take place during daylight hours. It starts at 1 p.m.
Tragic Tour Stops
Here are the stops listed on their Eventbrite listings:
- Archer Woods Cemetery – Said to be haunted by the “Weeping Lady.”
- The last resting place of the Grime Sisters – One of Chicago’s most infamous cold cases, with a haunted twist.
- The Miracle Child of Chicago, Mary Alice Quinn – Mary Alice died at 14. However, before she did she used her faith to heal people and made it known she wanted to continue after death. That’s why some still make a pilgrimage to her gravesite.
- Resurrection Cemetery – The legend of the ghost of a young woman in white hitchhiking on Archer Avenue is one of Chicago’s most famous and enduring ghost stories.
- Resurrection Mary at Chet’s Melody Lounge – This haunted bar is located across the street from Resurrection Cemetery —and for good reason is a favorite haunt of Graveside Paranormal.
- Haunted Archer Avenue, Showman’s Rest and The Suicide of Frank Nitti – Whether it’s legend or a mix of myth and reality, Archer Ave is one of Chicago’s most storied streets. (In addition to being a popular ghost tour stop, it also inspired a short paranormal documentary, A Murky Path Down Archer Avenue.) Showmen’s Rest is the resting place for those killed in the circus train crash in 1918. And what would a tour in Chicago be without a gangster ghost? In Nitti’s case, he’s a doozy because he was also Al Capone’s cousin and bodyguard.

Check-In
Does $40 for a 4 1/2 hour bus tour seem like a steal of a deal to you too?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Forty bucks seems like a really good deal! I bet they’re selling out.
You know, I should’ve mentioned that their tours have sold out in years past and that history is likely to repeat itself if it hasn’t already. But I never considered the price plus the interesting locations may have something to do with that until your comment. lol
I’d love to live in Chicago! I’ve never even had the chance to visit there! This tour/these locations make ti all the more tempting!
Oooo! Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit! Partially because it brings back great memories of my dad. He grew up near there and we’d often go back during summers. But also, it’s just so flipping cool. But the winters are brutal and it’s expensive so Wayne has put the ixnay on us ever living there. But if you ever get to visit…DO IT! You will dig it!
I see the comments now…they’re showing up! Weird!
