If you attended the Truth Seekers panel during Comic-Con@Home you probably saw the sneak peek trailer and gleaned some other insights about the new series from the show’s stars and creators. In case you missed it, here’s what I know so far about its release date, storyline, trailer, cast and more.

Release Date

No word yet on an exact date for us to mark on our calendars, but Truth Seekers should start streaming on Amazon later this year.

I’m guessing sometime in the Fall, because what better time of year than around Halloween for a show about ghosts?

Storyline

Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:

A team of part-time paranormal investigators use homemade gizmos to track the supernatural, sharing their adventures online. As their haunted stake outs become more terrifying they begin to uncover an unimaginable, apocalyptic conspiracy.

Since this is a collaboration between Shaun of the Dead‘s* Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Truth Seekers is following in the footsteps of that movie and is a horror-comedy. Except it will be an eight-episode series instead of a feature film.

Cast

Speaking of the show’s creators and stars, Pegg (“Dave”) and Frost (“Gus”) will be joined by Emma D’Arcy (“Astrid”), Samson Kayo (“Elton”), Susan Wokoma (“Helen”), and Malcolm McDowell (“Richard”).

Prior to this Truth Seekers collaboration and Shaun of the Dead, Pegg and Frost also starred in Hot Fuzz* and The World’s End* together. Pegg was among the co-writers on the other movies he and Frost appeared in together, and Pegg, along with Frost and Nat Saunders, are co-writers for this series.

Newcomer Emma D’Arcy doesn’t have a lot of acting credits yet, but she does have a few notable shows to her name, including Wanderlust and Hanna.

Samson Kayo’s TV series filmography includes Time Wasters and Sliced.

Fans of Crazyhead might recognize Susan Wokoma as “Raquel” from that series. (Which was shortlived, sadly. Boo!)

And then there’s Malcolm McDowell, whose acting credits range from A Clockwork Orange to “Dr. Samuel Loomis” in the 2007 version of Halloween to tons of cameos and voice-overs on all kinds of TV shows and cartoons.

In other words, what a cast they’ve assembled for Truth Seekers!
