Is the end in sight for Ghost Adventures? After all, it’s 25 seasons old and you know the saying, “All good things must come to an end.” Is the show’s future in jeopardy, or did Zak Bagans’ new deal with discovery+ preserve it for a little longer? Let’s check it out.

Zak Bagans’ New Multiyear discovery+ Deal

Paranormal superstar Zak Bagans has inked a new three-year deal with discovery+. It will bring more of his signature spooky and evocative content to the digital streaming platform through 2025.

Under the agreement, the paranormal investigator, executive producer, and filmmaker will create, star in, and produce over 100 hours of supernatural and horror content for the discovery+ portfolio. This includes new seasons of the hit series Ghost Adventures, semi-scripted series The Haunted Museum, and several additional specials and untitled creative projects in the works.

(I emphasized that last sentence for those of you who were worried about the fate of Ghost Adventures. You can breathe now. It’s not going anywhere for a while!)

“We are thrilled to continue our incredible relationship with Zak to create more groundbreaking paranormal content in the years ahead,” said Matthew Butler, General Manager, Travel Channel & Paranormal Streaming Content. “Zak’s authentic voice, engaging style, vivid storytelling and creative vision are a true asset to our streaming portfolio, generating gripping content that pushes this genre to new heights. He is an icon of the brand. There is so much more to come, and we are eager to deliver it to our fright-loving viewers.”

The Ghost Adventures Empire

Ghost Adventures debuted as a self-titled documentary, following Bagans and his team of paranormal investigators as they search for evidence of the afterlife. It was commissioned into a series for Travel Channel in 2008 and quickly rose as the network’s highest-rated show.

It ended up spawning a number of specials and miniseries including Ghost Adventures: Screaming Room, Ghost Adventures: Quarantine, Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel, Ghost Adventures: Horror at Joe Exotic Zoo, and more.

The series launched on discovery+ in January 2021 and has consistently trended as a top five franchise on the platform. Which is impressive considering the variety of content the streamer features. In addition to paranormal programming, there’s also lifestyle and relationships; home and food; true crime; adventure and natural history; as well as science, tech and the environment, and a slate of high-quality documentaries.

Bagans recently joined forces with filmmaker Eli Roth on the new semi-scripted series The Haunted Museum –a cinematic take on the tales of terror behind the most haunted artifacts on display in Bagans’ Las Vegas museum.

Bagans appeared as a regular guest on this past season of Food Network’s Halloween Wars where he provided inspiration for the bakers’ spooky confections.

His new deal encompasses more investigative-style programs and scripted content as well as brand-new spin-off series, innovative creative projects, and signature tentpole events.

I know this is asking a lot, because there have been so many memorable Zak Bagans and Ghost Adventures moments. What are some of your favorites?

One that has remained my favorite all these years later is when they explored Poveglia Island in Italy. Zak with that creepy plague doctor’s mask is an unforgettable image that made an impression.

  1. I remember Ghost Adventures were in a haunted hospital, and Zak (I think it was him) took a photo in the fuzzy dark. What showed up on the camera was a smoky, demonic-looking face WITH HORNS! It freaked me out!

Okay that’s definitely an episode I don’t remember seeing because I would’ve remembered horns. That sounds terrifying!!!

  3. This happened in the first couple of seasons into the show. It’s kind of fuzzy now, but what I can remember and clearly in my mind is that Zak and crew were in the basement of a haunted house, I think. I could have been a hospital, asylum, I just don’t know. Zak had found a way into this small space where all these 2×4 pieces of wood were just laying around. Anxiously, he asked the spirits to move the pieces of wood. In a matter of minutes these 2×4’s levitated and were flying everywhere and I think Zak was minorly injured from the experience. That experience struck me as probably true and I was hooked from then on. I’m glad Zak is stepping back he needs a break as he seems to be the most haunted of effected from these experiences.

Okay, that is definitely an episode I missed but sounds intense (and scary!) and I’m going to have to try and hunt that episode down now! And you raise another interesting point, he does seem to “absorb” more than the others doesn’t he? Maybe he is getting a break yet still getting to be involved in this way. Thanks for the comment!

  5. You have all peaked my interest! I’m a ghost adventures fan and I must have missed this horned apparition! Please share the season/episode if you remember. It’s always fun connecting with others fascinated by the paranormal 🙂

I hope someone sees this who can point to the right episode. I briefly looked into it hoping I might be able to suggest some episodes but I didn’t find much. So now I’m wanting to now too, Randy! lol

  7. I believe u can’t find it because it wasn’t on ghost adventures the show, it was their first documentary at goldfield hotel. Pretty sure it was on Netflix a while back. They talk about it on their last documentary at goldfield hotel.

  8. The documentary is offset from the show kinda like demon house, horror at Joe exotics zoo ect…but still of the same name ghost adventures.. I believe they did goldfield hotel 2 or 3 times

YAY! Thanks for weighing in, Brian! This might explain it. What Deb described must be from the documentary that launched Ghost Adventures the TV show. Hopefully Randy will be able to find it now. Thanks again, Brian!
