“Every crime has its missing link.”
Has Bigfoot ever killed anyone? Is the mythical creature responsible for a triple homicide? That’s what the new three-part docuseries, Sasquatch, is about.
It starts streaming on Hulu on April 20 and it looks nuts. Like possibly Hulu’s answer to Netflix’s Tiger King. It merges folklore and true crime in a way we’ve never seen before.
As the narrator in the trailer says, he’s investigating an area called the Emerald Triangle. Not only is it prime cannabis-growing real estate, but it’s also prime Bigfoot legend territory.
Oh, and apparently it’s in an area where the “rate of missing person’s cases is the highest in the United States by far.”
That’s not a combination of factors we see very often. In fact, have we ever seen it?
Let’s take a look at what Sasquatch is all about.
Sasquatch Synopsis
Here’s the synopsis from Hulu:
“While visiting a pot farm in Northern California in 1993, investigative journalist David Holthouse heard a story that still haunts him. On a nearby farm, three men were torn limb from limb in a savage Bigfoot attack. Sasquatch follows David as he revisits the Redwoods 25 years later in search of any evidence that might lead to the truth of what happened that night. As he pulls at the threads of this story he’ll be taken down a path that’s far more terrifying than anyone would have imagined.”
Do they find proof of Sasquatch?
This looks to be less like an Expedition Bigfoot-type show that’s on a quest to find proof of the big hairy beast and more a true crime one. As the narrator says in the trailer, “I don’t know if I believe in Bigfoot, but I sure as hell believe there are monsters among us.”
Amen to that, brother!

Check-In
Have you ever heard of a docuseries like this before?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I have heard of docuseries before, but definitely not something merging Bigfoot and crime. Interesting!
