In addition to ghosts, I’m nuts about zombies. That’s why I got really excited when this past summer I saw an ad for a zombie run.

Actually, it’s not just a zombie run. It’s an obstacle course “infested” with zombies. I’ve been raving about it since then, which has sparked people to share other zombie runs and walks they know of with me.

Here’s the zombie walks and runs that have been brought to my attention so far.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES

This is the “zombie infested 5k obstacle course race” I first saw before I started noticing other zombie events. Below are the dates and cities of their events, along with their groovy promo video. Visit their website for more information and to sign up. Also, they might add more locations for 2012. Be sure to check to see if the virus will be spreading to a city near you.

  1. Baltimore – October 22, 2011 (Registration for this one closes October 1, 2001. It’s also the last one in 2011.)
  2. Atlanta – March 3, 2012
  3. Boston – May 5, 2012
  4. Indianapolis – June 23, 2021
  5. Seattle/Portland – August 4, 2012
  6. San Diego/Los Angeles – October 20, 2012
  7. Austin – December 15, 2012

ZOMBIE BUFFET 5K

This event is in my own backyard (Nashville). I plan on attending. Lungs permitting (I’ve been having some asthma-related health issues lately) as a participant. If not as that, as a route watcher. This zombie run will take place on October 29, 2011.

Here’s a sort of promo vid of the event taken downtown in front of the Bridgestone Arena.

NASHVILLE ZOMBIE WALK

It seems zombies are going to be invading Nashville during the month of October. Another zombie event, a walk, will take place on October 8, 2011, which is World Zombie Day. The event is free. Participants are asked to bring donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank, though. Pretty ingenious way of helping the hungry I think. This is another one I’ll be scoping out.

NIGHT OF THE RUNNING DEAD

I unfortunately don’t remember who told me about this one, so I don’t recall who to credit for the tip, but I remember it was done via HJ’s FB page. This zombie “creep….run…crawl” (5K Race & 1 Mile Walk or ‘Creep n’ Crawl’) takes place on October 15, 2011 at the Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City. The 5k is a USATF (U.S. Track and Field) sanctioned event.

ZOMBIEWALK.COM FORUMS

There are so many more zombie walks and runs. The above are just the few that have been brought to my attention. Besides Googling ones in your area, Zombiewalk.com is another awesome site to check out. The forums list zombie walks by regions in the U.S., as well as International.

Have you ever done a zombie walk or run? If so, did you go as a survivor or one of the undead? If you’ve never done one, do you want to?

  1. Those look like fun. I will be doing a zombie walk in downtown Phoenix in October with Sharon. I can’t wait to get my zombie on…

  2. HHHMMMmmm… if I were a conspiracy theorist, I’d say the real zombies are setting this up so they’ve got more places to hide out without anyone noticing …

  3. Zombies already walk amongst us. Just look around your place of work or where you go to school.
