If you’ve been following the Haunt Jaunts Spooktacular Halloween Blog Party festivities from the beginning, you know that early on (like right at the start) there was a big hiccup: my computer crashed.
What I didn’t share was some of the events directly preceeding the crash. I’m going to share them now and incorporate it into the final giveaway this season.
The prize up for grabs this time? The $25 Best Buy card!
HOW TO PLAY
- Read through the “Day of the Crash” events below.
- Contemplate the list of possible crash culprits.
- Pick which culprit you think is responsible and leave your choice in a comment below.
THE DAY OF THE CRASH
Here’s what went down immediately before the crash:
- I might have pissed off a witch or two who were scheduled to take part in the Halloween Blog Party festivities by not being more organized. (I was still trying to recover from the surprise birthday party my husband had thrown me and I still hadn’t quite gotten my act together by this point.) I think I told a witch or two I was going to do something by a certain point I had not done, but that I had plans to get on as soon as possible. I suspect one may have cursed me and caused the crash before I could make good on my word!
- I’d just finished recording a Mr. Skull video, which I planned on posting the next day. (The crash happened on a Thursday afternoon.) Mr. Skull didn’t much appreciate me not appreciating his second attempt at jokes. He was a little miffed to say the least.
- Mr. Meow, my very bad cat, decided he was going to walk across the keyboards like he sometimes does when he wants to get my attention –or my goat, depending upon his mood. On this day he decided to stop and stand on the my keyboard rather than keep moving, so I believe he was trying to get my goat. This was exactly when the computer froze up. When I turned it off and tried to boot back up…crash!
CRASH CULPRITS
The suspects you have to choose from are:
RULES
- Only one entry per person
- Entries accepted until Halloween/Samhain 2010 at 6 p.m. CST.
- A winner will be drawn by name after the trick or treaters leave on Halloween night. (Note: I’m letting you all decide who the culprit is, so whoever I pick and whatever answer they give is going to determine who crashed my computer!)
- Results will be posted on Halloween before midnight. (Hopefully. That’s the plan, but you never know what might happen on Halloween to derail this plan!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
The witch is too obvious a suspect, especially since the bad luck would boomrang on her as well. (Besides, most witches wouldn’t honk off the IT community. Some magic can’t be crossed and computer magic is one of them.) The cat’s also a little obvious since cats will screw with anything. (Come to think of it, so would dogs. Most mammal pets have a thing against machines. Just look at my dog and his never-ending fight against the vaccum. 😉 ) I’m thinking it’s Mr. Skull who did the deed. Maybe he’s upset that he’s not getting paid. I mean, it’s been a long time since the studio that made THE SKULL gave him a royalty check and since the rights are up in the air…well, you do the math.
It’s Mr. Skull for the crash and that’s the story I’m sticking to.
I think Mr. Skull and Mr. Meow are in cahoots! I love that word. Anyway. I think it’s a conspiracy between the two.
Mr. Meow knows that if he really wants your attention, a few strategically placed chew marks on the computer’s power cord would be enough (or mouse cord, or speaker cords… whatever would get your attention!) Cats are more about mischief than total annihilation. Witches can certainly be a pest, but they aren’t stupid. If you were going to make good, it would work against them to inhibit your ability to do so. But Mr. Skull, he would benefit from the computer crash, so he is the most likely culprit. So my vote is Mr. Skull, in the computer, with the computer crash…
I won’t win anyway, but I’m voting for the skull video since I know how much you love that cat and even if Mr Meow did do it, you’d absolutely find a way not to BLAME HIM!!!
I think it was Mr.Skull. Since the witch has had some bad luck herself. Mr.Meow is just a cat, I mean what else would a cat do other than meow? 🙂 Cats are harmless creatures. So that only leaves us with Mr.Skull!
