We’ll find out when Josh Gates returns with new Destination Truth episodes on March 17 and heads to Ireland in search of leprechauns. (Seriously, on St. Patrick’s Day! Perfect episode for them and totally keeps in line with Josh’s style of humor, don’t you think?)
GHOST HUNTERS
However, if you can’t wait until March 17 to see Josh Gates, you can catch him on March 3. That’s when Ghost Hunters returns for its sixth season and 100th episode.
Jason, Grant and the rest of the T.A.P.S. crew will do their first-ever investigation of Alcatraz. (It’s hard to believe it, but, no, they’ve never investigated there yet!)
Where does Josh fit in? He’ll host a live two-hour interactive fan event that night. I guess we can expect a whole night of Ghost Hunters on March 3. Does this give us enough warning to clear our calendars? (And DVRs for those of us who record the shows.)
And if you like the DT/GH crew crossovers, word on the street has it that Kris Williams from Ghost Hunters is set to do a guest Destination Truth investigation. I don’t know what they’ll be searching for, but please let her get eaten by something! (Just kidding. My evil twin made me type that.)
GAMES
I think we should come up with games to play as we’re watching Destination Truth and Ghost Hunters akin to the drinking game Autumnforest concocted for Ghost Adventures. (In that case, it’s take a drink every time Zak says, “Dude!” or “Bro!”) Then we can compare scores the next day.
For Destination Truth, we could take bets on what’s going to breakdown or what near-fatal calamity him and his crew might experience. Examples: How many of the crew suffers upset tummies from trying the local cuisine? If airplanes are involved, how old will they be and will their tops fly off in-flight? Basically, a “What Will Go Wrong Game.”
For Ghost Hunters, you could do two games:
- Borrowing from Autumnforest’s idea, you could do a drinking game for how many times someone says, “What was that? Did you hear/see that?”
- Or (and this is my personal fave), since GH‘s “evidence” has come under a lot of scrutiny lately, the first person to debunk wins something. How about a title like “Great Debunker of the Week?”

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Thanks so much for the updates!!! Jeez, I’m totally in love with Josh–it’s a horrid crush. Hubby rolls his eyes. I say the drinking game should involve every time Josh says “we pressed on” and when he says “booking a flight on orbitz.com” Hee hee. Kris is not the person I’d loan out–she needs desperately to have a personality inserted. I’d pick Tango. He’d be hilarious and Josh would take total advantage of his naive nature. I’m thrilled by the opening show for Destination Truth. I loved when he looked for elves in Iceland, so this will be just as fun, except he’ll be drinking Guiness, which is what I will drink during the show! Wahoo!
That would be nice if they do find the little fella but I’m still holding out for the DT team to find Bigfoot. I can’t wait to see the Alcatraz episode of GH. It has all the possiblities to be a show to remember but we shall see. BTW, I like it when Josh hosts the GH specials, his funny remarks make it much better to watch.
I love Guiness! (Actually Murphy’s Irish Stout is my beer of choice, but Guiness is up there too.) And HAHA…I like what you came up with for a DT drinking game. Might have to try it… And Tango would be GREAT to go on a DT invest. Glad someone else isn’t smitten with that Kris either. Blah!
Oh, Julie, I’m with you…his wit does make GH better. Am hoping the Alcatraz show is good. Also hope there’s NO PHONY PROOF! Very disappointed with them about that but there’s always watching to see how audacious they’ll be about trying to pull wool over somebody’s eyes…
I can’t wait for Destination Truth to come back on. I have to say it’s one of my all time favorites. I’m not sure which is funnier, Josh riding in the plane where the cockpit roof comes off, Josh getting lost in the Bermuda Triangle, or Josh riding in the bucket of the suspension bridge and getting stuck in the middle. You’re right, they’re all funny as hell! And he keeps coming back for more.
And his show on Elves was hysterical. The “I never thought I would say this” comments were cracking me up.
Ghost Hunters is always better when Josh hosts an episode. His satirical comments bring levity to the less spectacular moments and his narration is far better than anything the GH team comes up with on their own. But I have to agree, Kris is the last person he needs on his show. She has the personality of a sofa these days. And considering the ridiculous things Josh gets himself into I’m surprised she survived.
Personally I think Josh needs to put a little distance between himself and Ghost Hunters. I think GH is headed for a serious crash here shortly and he doesn’t want to be anywhere near that wreckage.
I forgot about the “I never thought I would say this”…that was funny. And about the bucket! He’s a mess. Which just made your last paragraph even funnier…is it in his DNA to stay away from GH? I think he’s attracted to train wrecks! =)
Great comments. I guess it’s unanimous. DT is on everyone’s must see list!
