This holiday season as I perused the many catalogs that filled my mailbox, I came across a lot of neat things that appealed to my macabre sensibilities.
Some things I was able to find on Amazon. If that was the case, I immediately added them to the Holiday section of the Haunt Jaunts Emporium. (Why not? Maybe it’ll help someone else find the perfect gift for a macabre-loving person they know. If not for the hlidays, maybe for a birthday or something.)
I decided to make a list of my most favorite macabre things. (Below.) Some I asked for as Christmas gifts this year. Other things I gifted to others I knew would appreciate them.
A lot of them were things for the home. (Ask anyone who’s been in mine. I have a lot of novelty, yet still functional, weird things about. One of my favorites is the “see, hear, speak” no evil monkey toilet roll holder in the guest bath. (It’s over two feet tall and has the three monkeys staked on top of each other’s shoulders. It scared my friend’s kid so bad he held his pee. He ended up wetting himself. He didn’t even want to try another bathroom for fear of what weirdness might lurk in there!)
Anyway, these tickled me. Do you like any of them? What sort of macabre things did you see this holiday shopping season?
Crescent Moon Vampire Bats Metal Garden Stake
Thriller: The Complete Series
Ice Screams Ice Cube Trays
Fred and Friends Stone Cold Ice Trays
Fred ABC Cookie Cutter
The Twelve Terrors of Christmas
Beware of the… Sign
I wasn’t able to copy and paste a picture of this sign from What on Earth’s site, but it is hysterical! There’s a chunk (like a bite mark) taken out of it where the name of whatever it is you should beware of belongs. Too funny!
Scary Zombies Board Game
Murder Ink Sticky Notepad
Crime Scene Bandages
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
